Plan Year Tab

Use the Plan Year tab to set up plan-year configuration for the case, which can contain plan-year specific information such as different rates, eligibilities, and enrollment rules. You can have more than one plan year defined, but only one can be active. You can set up the plan year configuration by importing from another case, or by creating from scratch.

Elements

+ icon 
Click to add a new plan year for the case.
Plan Year Begins 
Displays the date for the beginning of the Plan Year.
Enrollment Begins 
Displays the date for the beginning of the open enrollment period.
Enrollment Ends 
Displays the date for the end of the open enrollment period.
Time zone drop-down 
Allows you to set a specific time (and time zone) for the end of the enrollment period for that plan year.
Active 
Select this option when you have completed configuration of the case. If the plan year is not marked as “Active”, no enrollments can occur.
Import from case 
This option lets you select the case from which you want to import benefit plans and other case settings.
Pencil icon 
Click the Pencil icon to edit the selected plan year. You can change the Enrollment Start and Enrollment End dates, as well as the Plan Year Start date.
Delete icon 
Click the Delete icon to remove the selected plan year. Be VERY careful if you choose to use this option.

General Buttons

Save 
Click to save any selections or updates made to the plan year setup.
Cancel 
Click to cancel all changes.

Best Practices for Multiple Plan Year Cases

Selerix recommends the following as a “best practice” when working with multiple plan year cases:

  • If you have new plans or products, create "placeholders" for these in your current case, but don't set eligibility
  • Extend the payroll calendars to encompass the next plan year
  • Create a copy of the current case (aka, ORIGINAL case)
  • Add a new plan year to the copied case (Case Setup>>Case Info>>Plan Year tab>>+ icon)
  • Build out the new plan year benefit plans in the copied case, including the "placeholders"
  • Set eligibility for the new plan year
  • Test the benefit plans in the copied case
  • Test the EDI in the copied case
  • Export the EDI setup in the copied case
  • Go back to the ORIGINAL case
  • Import the case that contains the new plan year benefit plans
  • Import the "backup" EDI setup
  • Create new “Deliverables” that are assigned to EDI files for the new plan year
  • Make the new plan year "Active" (Case Setup>>Case Info>>Plan Year tab>>Click Active check box)
